Curriculum

Students have music once a week for 45 minutes. We have fun moving, singing, reading rhythms, and playing instruments!

Additional Focuses- Each grade does a WIDE variety of musical activities, but here are some special focuses:
Grade K: Learns about the basics of music such as how to echo me, keep the beat, move like the music sounds, how to use our 4 voices (singing, speaking, shouting, and whispering), timbre, playing classroom instruments, and more! They also start to learn about the sound opposites fast/slow and loud/soft.
Grade 1: Learns about the musical opposites fast/slow, loud/soft, high/low, up/down, long/short, and same/different.
Grade 2: Plays the boomwhackers, Orff barred instruments (xylophones, etc), learns about the instruments of the orchestra, and does a cultures unit that correlates with their classrooms.
Grade 3: Plays the ukuleles, learns about musical form, and does a note reading unit.
